Transcription: Clearly, many assign much value to that hobby, but I don't personally feel that it's necessary or advantageous to gaining an accurate understanding of the Civil War era. A reenactment of a 130-year-old event presumes a level of understanding and accuracy of the actual event that I think is suspect to some degree. Indeed, the reenactor's interpretation may even give the casual observer a more distorted an impression of history than they might otherwise have.
